FAQs

How Should I Dress?

Believe it or not one of the most frequently asked questions that we get is, "What do people wear at Riverside? Do you guys wear suits, jeans, khakis or capris?" The answer is yes. A lot of guys wear khakis, jeans, shorts and a polo or button up shirt. Ladies can be found wearing jeans, pants, skirts, or a dress. The most important thing to remember is that we look forward to seeing you, and not what you're wearing.

To what denomination does Riverside belong?

We are a mission congregation of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church (ARP); a theologically conservative, evangelical, Christian denomination that has been faithfully preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ for over 225 years. Its roots are traced to the Reformation, particularly the work of John Calvin and John Knox. Scottish immigrants who came to America in search of religious freedom brought the faith to these shores.

The ARP Church of today began as a primarily rural denomination concentrated in the the Carolina's, but has followed the flow of people into urban centers, across the country, and into Canada. With just over 270 congregations, relationships are strong between individual churches as well as members. Because of the ARP's rich history and commitment to Biblical faithfulness and community, Riverside Church is delighted to bring this wise and gentle denomination to the River Region.

How do I become a member of Riverside?

Joining Riverside is a simple, yet important process. A brief class is being developed in order to help you fully understand the commitment you will be making with God and His church. Simply let Pastor Duke know that you would like to attend our new members class.

How long has this church been in the area?

We began laying the foundation for Riverside in Sept 2009. Our first Sunday morning service was held on Easter Sunday 2010.
